Emergent reading, phonics and sports come together in this lift-the-flap game. Your students will sound out words and then self-check by seeing if the pictures hidden by the folded-over-flap matches what they read. Students keep track of their progress in the game with either a tally sheet or bar graph; letting you sneak math criteria into your literacy center. The picture and phonetic connections are helpful for special needs and English language learners.
Included in the game:
1) CVC reading practice
- 45 lift-the-flap self-checking words
2) A specialty die or spinner
- this makes the game more exciting for many learners
3) Math connections
- both a tally sheet and graphing sheet are given as possible math connections during the game play. I recommend laminating and letting the students fill out with dry erase markers.
This meets common core, PYP Language Scope and Sequence Phases 1 and 2, and KS1 criteria.
