CVC games and centers. Hands-on literacy centers focus on medial vowel sounds in CVC words and real and nonsense words. Isolate middle vowel sounds and read CVC words. Spin to find a medial vowel sound and create a real or nonsense word. Use decoding skills to read and identify as a real or nonsense word.

This is a set of winter themed centers that will get your students working with vowels in CVC words. There are two centers included in this pack.

Snowy CVC Splat!

Students will identify a picture on a word card. They will isolate the medial vowel in the CVC word. Students will select the correct vowel manipulative, place it on the word card, and read the entire word. They will record the CVC words on the recording sheet to demonstrate their understanding of the skill. There are extension worksheets to extend their learning. This center is easy to differentiate.

Spin It Like A Snowman

Students will spin the snowman spinner to select a vowel. They will use the vowel to create a CVC word and use decoding skills to read the word. Students will then categorize the word as a real or nonsense word. This is a fun, hands-on center that gets students interacting with CVC words. There is a Print & Play version that requires no prep. There is also an extension worksheet.
