We play this game in my classroom kind of like “4 corners.” I hang up the 5 vowels around my classroom. I give each student a picture card. They stretch the word by themselves and identify the middle sound. They will then go and stand by the vowel that they hear in the middle of the word. As a class we will stretch some of the words to see if they are correct. EX:CAT- Touch our heads and say “c” hips and say “a” and toes and say “t” then we will start at our heads and sweep our hands to our feet and blend the word together “c-a-t:cat”. I will then shuffle the pictures and give students a new one. Do this for a few rounds.
This could also be used as a workstation where the students will match the picture card to the correct vowel.
