Directions: These puzzles are intended to be used for phoneme blending and
segmentation. Simply cut on the black lines to split them into three pieces that
represent the three sounds in each word. Have students say each sound separately
as the pieces are manipulated and separated with their hands, then blend the sounds
as the puzzle is put together. You may decide to use snap cubes in tandem, if desired.
It can serve as modified Elkonin boxes. Students can put cubes on each sound part,
then they can slide the puzzle pieces together to blend the letters, and they can say it
one more time as they put the cubes together and blend the sounds for extra
