Use these CVC medial vowel clip cards to support your children in determining the middle sounds they hear in CVC words. They see the letter, but also a picture cue for the sound that letter makes! This set includes a sheet of 12 clip cards for ease in copying a class set. The most common ways I use these clip cards:
I say a CVC word, they tap the word out, state the first sound of each of the pictures on their short vowel clip cards, and clip the clothespin onto the corresponding vowel.
Independently (or as a "game"):
They pull picture cards, "read" the picture, tap the sounds, state the first sound of each of the pictures on their short vowel clip cards, and clip the clothespin onto the corresponding vowel.
These really can be used in SO many ways! Each of my kindergarten and first grade students has their own and we use them VERY often. I work with struggling readers and ELL students; the pictures supports do wonders for their reading!
