Are you looking for a fun and hands-on activity to introduce and reinforce CVC word families? I love making learning fun and have combined the age-old art of making paper planes with learning to read! These paper planes make a great phonics activity for your learning centers!
Simply have students color pictures and trace the matching word. I like students to color the picture and trace the matching word in the same color (words have been arranged on the plane in alphabetical order). Please note, occasionally some CCVC words have been included to make up extra words for limited families. After completing the paper plane templates, the fun of folding can begin - full pictorial instructions are included. Once complete, the literacy center will be alive with flying planes. Add buckets with word family labels (also included) as landing targets for an extra challenge!
