In this pack you will find a set of jigsaw pieces with the letters of the alphabet on them. The consonants are in red and the vowels in blue to help with identification and to differentiate them from the green and yellow number pieces from my Number Jigsaw pack.
The jigsaw pieces can be used for free play and exploration of letters and words. They slot together to encourage blending and segmenting skills and make word work a lot of fun! Or they can be used in a more structured way in combination with the work mats. Children select the correct letters (building letter identification skills) and place them on the work mats to spell the words in the pictures. All the pictures are of simple CVC words which can be easily sounded out. There is also a worksheet to practice writing out the words once they have been made. And there are 9 worksheets with the words already spelled out on them for children who struggle sounding out words . They are in three groups: one with the word spelled completely, one with the beginning sound missing and one with the vowel sound missing.
The pack works well as a literacy center and can be easily differentiated by choosing easier or harder worksheets depending on the ability of the individual child.
Please rate and comment if you find this pack useful (and get credits for doing so!) and let me know if there is anything I can do to improve it or adapt it to better suit the needs of your students.
