Description
Knowledge of CVC words is so important for beginning readers. Included in this pack are supplementary activities for your study on Short E. I have included practice activities that have been beneficial for my students. I hope they are beneficial for your students as well!
Sound Segmenting: This can be used as practice or an assessment on phonemic awareness. The sheet can be kept whole or each card can be cut apart. This could be used in an intervention group or RTI documentation.
Practice Printables: These printables provide extra practice with short e. Students will read, write, and use CVC words with short e.
Picture & Word Match: Laminate and cut apart these cards. Have students match the word and picture. This could be done as a center or independent activity.
Short E BINGO: This is a great fun way for students to practice their short e skills. Included is a blank BINGO sheet and a sheet with all of the possible words. This sheet could also be cut apart to allow the teacher to randomly choose the words to call.
Rhyme & Sort: Laminate and cut all pieces. Students should sort words that rhyme with the header cards on page 13. Students should record their answers on the provided answer sheet.
Short E Assessments: Both a student sheet and a teacher recording sheet are provided. This should be used as an assessment of a student's skills in reading short e words. It can be used as a formative assessment, a RTI assessment, or any other way you can use it in your classroom.
