I like mixing all the short vowel sounds for word work instead of just focusing on one vowel sound or even one word family. I have purposely chosen words that are on the same sort that start with the same letter or end with the same chunk. I want them to have to look closely at all three letters and see how one letter can change a word. These give the kids practice working on almost all the letter sounds at one time. There is something about them cutting out the word and having it in their hand that makes them look closer at the sounds too! Hope you enjoy these activities and it helps your little learners grow. There are six sorts and three pages where they write the cvc word.
