This packet is designed to help your students practice their DIBEL and AIMSweb practice. Once your students have learned their letters and sounds, they will be ready for this packet! This packet is designed to be used in small group or in centers.
Teacher directions: Print, laminate and cut out slides 5-11 and 13-19. You can add a quick check to the back of each card by labeling them real or nonsense or by adding stickers to them to help the students double check their work.
There are different ways to differentiate the use of this packet. Slides 18& 19 can be laminated and used as sorting mats. In a bag prepare a set of cards (10-15, or more depending on the level of students — this is a great place to differentiate) with the sorting mats. Students can work together to put the right card onto the right sorting mat. You can have the students check their
work by placing a blue sticker on the back of real words and a green sticker on the back of the nonsense words so that it correlates with the sorting mats.
There are also individual sorting mats (slide 22) for the students that may be struggling and can be used in small group differentiation. Slide 23 can also be printed for the students to work on writing the real and
nonsense words that have been prepared for them. To do this, 7 real and 7
nonsense words need to be placed into a bag and the matching work page needs
to be provided for the student.
Slides 24-28 are 5 different cut and paste activities for students to cut the words and place them in the right bubble. These pages can be used for individual assessment.
These activities are aligned to Common Core State Standard RF.K.2d -- Isolate and produce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phoneme) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words.
