CVC Words Set 1: this is a classroom tested differentiated activity focusing on developing students ability to blend sounds together to read CVC words.
Children look at the top of each "ring" and identify the letter sound as well as the surrounding two sounds. They then use their blending skills to determine which direction they should draw a curve (left or right) to correctly read each CVC word.
This resource consists of 4 worksheet pages available in 4 differentiated versions (therefore 16 worksheet pages in total):
- Version A worksheets (with solid font, picture clues)
- Version B worksheets (with solid font, no picture clues)
- Version C worksheets (with tracing font, picture clues)
- Version D worksheets (with tracing font, no picture clues)
Also included are 2 sets of "Teacher Demo" pages which consist of one large ring (available in each version A-D).
This resource is easy to differentiate. Simply allocate children the worksheet version (A-D) appropriate to their level.
Children completing worksheet versions C and D have the additional challenge of tracing the letters. As an extension activity, they could draw pictures inside the ring after they have successfully read the word.
