CVC Words BUNDLE CVC Activities and Centers

Once students have mastered consonant and vowel sounds, CVC words are usually the first words they begin blending and reading. These short words are perfect for helping students grasp the importance of the letter and sound relationship within words. Some students grasp this skill easily, while other students need lots of practice and repetition. It is a skill that we spend a lot of time working on in Kindergarten and 1st grade.

I'm so happy to share with you this CVC bundle. This growing bundle will be packed full of fun activities to help your students learn, blend, recognize, and read CVC words. You'll love the activities included because they are easy to prep. They will require some basic classroom supplies such as magnetic letters and plastic linking cubes. The activities are great for morning tubs, fast finisher activities, small group instruction, and literacy centers.

The resources in this bundle will feature the same high quality CVC clip art throughout all of the packets. This will allow students to become comfortable and confident with the names of the images and will prevent you from having to go over picture names each time a new activity is introduced. This will also allow students to focus on mastering the skill and completing the activities correctly, instead of guessing and worrying about the name of each picture.

What's Included?

CVC Graphing: A great way to incorporate math and literacy! Students will sort and graph the CVC pictures. They will use the graph to answer the questions and then spell the CVC words on their paper. Makes a great center or fast finisher activity. 25 graphing activities included!

Match and Cover: CVC Edition: There are two types of mats included. Mat #1 Students will read the CVC word. Using the color code on the mat, they will cover the corresponding pictures with plastic linking cubes. Mat #2 Students will identify each CVC picture on the color code. They will find the corresponding CVC words on their mat and cover them with plastic linking cubes. 69 practice mats included!

CVC Word Mats: Over 50 mats are included in this easy to prep resource. There are three types of mats included: 1. Same word family 2. Same vowel with mixed word families 3. Mixed vowel practice. Students will use magnetic letters to build each CVC word. To make these mats self-checking, the answers are written very small in the lower right corner. You can give each student a sticky note to cover the answers. Once they complete the mat, they remove the sticky note to check their work. Includes a Google Slides version.

CVC Centers: A collection of 15 different literacy centers to practice CVC words. Each center comes with teacher friendly directions, student-friendly "I Can" pages, and recording sheets to hold students accountable. Students will practice reading and building CVC words in isolation and in sentences.

CVC Word Searches:This resource includes 40 word searches. There are three types of word searches included: 1. Same word family 2. Same vowel with mixed word families 3. Mixed vowel / mixed word family practice. Students will read the “Word List”, located on the left side of the mat. They will find each of the words listed and circle, color, or highlight the word. Finally, they will record the corresponding CVC word under the matching picture at the bottom.

CVC Games:This resource includes 9 different games that are perfect for partners or small groups. Each game has multiple versions so students can play more than once. The games are perfect for liteacy centers, adult-led guided groups, morning tubs, or fast finisher activities.
