Why have your students practice new words using newly learned phonics skills on plain ordinary flashcards when they can go fishing for them?! My school utilizes Saxon Phonics for Kindergarten and this product uses the Reading Practice Lists 1-4. Even if your school uses a different Phonics program, your students can still have fun learning new words!
To use: Print on cardstock, lamimate and cut out. Attach a small paper clip to the mouth of each fish. Apply hot glue to the paper clip on the back of the fish to secure the paper clip. Violia! No more loose paper clips in the bottom of the basket! Attach a magnet to the end of a child's toy fishing pole and let the fun begin.
You can also play by turning over all the fish in the middle of the table and have the children pick a fish to read.
Another way to extend the learning is after the fish is caught and read, have the children spell it and use it/write it in a sentence.
