Competent readers have a number of strategies they are able to call on when reading.
Early readers need explicit instruction on reading strategies. When students are beginning to read and write it is important to develop automaticity in hearing and recording letter sounds in sequence. This pack will help your students stretch or sound out the letters from left to right to solve a word.
The stronger students are with word families and general letter/sound recognition, the more successful they will be in decoding and breaking words apart when reading.
This pack will help your students to practice stretching CVC words and help develop decoding skills when reading.
Students solve a word by identifying the initial sound of pictures and making a word. They read the word they made and draw a picture to match.
