Are your students struggling with sentence structure or sentence comprehension? These writing templates are perfect to put in writing centers or a writing journal. These Read Write Illustrate pages are awesome at practicing writing, checking sentences, and illustrating. Each page has short sentences using sight words and digraphs.

I have used these writing papers as a writing journal, in a writing center, and as daily morning work. The friendly checklists are the best part. It reminds students of what should be on their paper and what to do next.

First, they practice writing the sentence in their best handwriting. Next, they draw a picture to match the sentence. This checks their comprehension of the short sentences and sight words. I always have them check a friend's paper after they are complete for another round of sentence checking through the checklist. These sheets take less than 10 minutes and are GREAT for morning work routines.
