Young learners need lots of practice when learning about long and short vowels. This resource gives them just that. It includes 17 worksheets for practicing differentiating between long and short vowel sounds when reading and writing:
-Cut and Paste: Long/Short Vowel Sound picture sort and word recording page (3)
-Copy the word, choose the picture that matches (2)
-Look at the picture, choose the correct vowel (4)
- Circle the word that matches the picture (4)
- Add an "e" to make a new word (2)
- Choose the best word to complete the sentence (2)
Also includes an "I can differentiate long and short vowel sounds" poster.
These sheets can be used as morning work, homework, extra practice or remediation. I use it in my first grade ICT classroom as a warm up for guided reading groups. Great for Kindergarteners, Firsties, ELLs and SpED students.
