We use these practice sheets in my classroom after learning a new word family. Students use this word family activity to practice their newly learned word family. A house is included which contains all of the words for the word family. This cut and paste activity gives students an opportunity to make new words and practice reading them as well. There are three different options of beginning sounds to choose from allowing you to differentiate this activity for your students. My students love doing this activity!

Directions for the activity:
Students cut out the beginning sounds they need and glue them next to the word family to make a new word. Depending on the beginning sound options you choose, some of the beginning sounds will not be used. After students have made all their words they read their words to themselves. Students will then color in the smiley face to show they have practiced the words to themselves. They continue to read the words to their teacher and two friends before brining it home to practice reading the words to their families.
