Cabbage juice is an underrated solution with excellent scientific properties to show elementary and middle school students. The purple juice of this vegetable changes color in different common solutions that are available at the grocery store. Students can compare the strength of common acids and bases by seeing what color the cabbage juice turns when they are added together. These hands-on activities are perfect to practice the use of graduated cylinders and measuring in milliliters.
Red, Purple, Green, and Aqua color changes! The activities are completely described and all the science is explained. Result tables are provided. As a bonus, there are directions for a cabbage juice integrated art project. Check out the Preview!
