This set of number posters for your cactus themed classroom include everything you need to teach number sense to your students. Each poster represents the target number 7 different ways including: objects, tallies, base 10, dice, 10 frames, coins and number line position.
I use these posters to teach about each number at the beginning of the year and keep them hanging all year for the students to refer to. All of my students have benefited from these posters but my lower kiddos in particular have bee much more successful and independent with their numbers because they had a concrete visual way to find the number they were looking for. Each of them were able to find the target number in a way that worked for them. I could see the progression from counting objects to identifying groups, using tallies and base 10. They were also able to make the association between the number and number word much easier.
I printed and laminated the included blank poster for each child to keep in their chair pocket. When I introduced a number I instructed the students to represent that number on their blank page. These started off very simply with some just able to represent in objects and fill in the 10 frames but as we practiced many were able to complete the entire page including the coins! We also used our math manipulatives during instruction to match to the posters to give each student a hands on experience with each number.
I hope you find the same results with these in your classrooms! Be on the lookout for more cactus themed decor and learning materials!
