This sheet asks students to check nutrition labels on food packets and cartons to ascertain levels of calcium. They are also asked to predict the product with the most calcium and then reflect on this afterwards.
When I used this activity with my Grade 1/2 gifted and talented class, it worked extremely well. I brought empty low-fat, skim, full-cream and chocolate milk containers in, as well as cheese packets, cookie boxes, yogurt containers, pasta packets, etc.
It is probably most suited to Grades 3-6.
