Sales tax differs from state to state.
In this activity, students are given five products and each product has four different states. Students are tasked with showing all their work towards calculating the final price of a product (after sales tax) per state. They are then asked to calculate the difference, per item, of prices between the state with the highest and lowest sales tax.
There are questions at the end in which students calculate sales tax for four states for an entire year's worth of groceries for a family of four.
