Calculus BC Calculus 2 - Integration by Trig Sub Guided Notes with 2 Graphic Organizers
This activity is designed for AP Calculus BC and College Calculus 2. Integration by Trig Substitution is an important topic that students have traditionally had difficulty with. This activity reinforces the skills needed to master this topic.
✓ Two Versions
of Integration by Trigonometric Substitution Graphic Organizers. One has formulas in terms of x
, and the other in terms of u.
These can be printed (On colored paper) half size for Interactive Notebooks or for students just to paste. I usually print these formula sheets on Neon paper and let them use them in class for the first day or two.
✓ Four full examples done out individually, each on its own full page, shown step-by-step.
You can give these out after you do them for the class or they can be a supplement and enhancement for your students as a study sheet or guideline. Students can use some of the white space to the right of each step to explain the step. Each of the Trig subs is included, sin, sec, and tan, plus one full example of definite integration with change of variables.
✓ Five question HW Assignment
or Assessment with room for students to work. The handout can be used as enrichment, homework, group work, or as an assessment.
