Calculus Polar Area Guided Notes plus Task or Station Cards
This fun resource is designed for AP Calculus BC and College Calculus 2. It reinforces your lessons from the section in the Unit on Polar and Parametric Functions. In addition to being a required topic in the curriculum, Polar Area is especially important for those students going on to Multivariable Calculus.
☑ A two - page graphical handout with step by step notes on finding the area under a polar curve. Students are expected to be able to solve for the points of intersection which will become the limits of integration. These examples show those steps as well as the set up and integration.
☑ Ten task or station cards with graphs showing shaded regions. Students should be able to graph (not necessarily shade) these on their graphing calculators to help determine where the regions begin and end. The task cards have no cut lines and can be used as handouts instead of cards. Problems include simple curves and also area shared between curves. Black and white version of Task cards Included, also.
☑ Master list of questions which can also be used for an absent student.
☑ Answer key with hints.
☑ Organized works pace for the solutions.
