This is an activity that can be used for students to practice what they have learned about curve sketching.
In the first activity, students will match the description of a curve to its equation. Descriptions include such things as where the curve is increasing or decreasing, where it has a maximum or minimum, where it is concave up or concave down, and where there are points of inflection.
In the second activity, students will match the graph of a function to the graph of its derivative.
In order to be successful with this activity, students must understand the relationship of a curve to its derivative and second derivative.
