Task Cards are a great way to add movement to your classroom and/or individualize learning. I use these in particular with my IB Math Studies students as we cover Topic 7 Calculus.
In these 12 Task Cards students practice finding the derivative or gradient function, calculating the slope of the tangent line and the normal line at a particular point, as well as finding the equation of the tangent and normal line at a particular point.
Full solutions and Answer Key that fits with the task card set to be stored with the rest of the cards are BOTH included as well as a cover page.
Suggested use of task cards: Print one set of task cards. Laminate if desired. Pair students together and set up a rotation so that each pair knows who they will hand off their task card to. Give each pair a task card and each student should have his/her own recording sheet to show work and record their answers. Time the students (four to five minutes) and then have them switch the card by passing it to another pair of students in the rotation.
You can also print a set per small group (of 3 or 4 students) and have them go through the task cards together. It’s completely up to you.
