Pair the students up. Each pair gets an answer recording sheet (page 1) and the sheet with 10 functions (page 2). Each pair cuts out the 10 function cards. For each card, the students need to use the first derivative test to determine any intervals where the function is decreasing/increasing. Also, the students should write the ordered pairs for the location of any relative minima/maxima. They can show their work on the cards but record their final answers down on the answer recording sheet. They get 1 run for every correct interval or relative minima/maxima and one run taken away for every incorrect interval or relative minima/maxima. You can set a certain time limit for them to work. The winner is the first partner pair to get all the answers correct or the pair that has the most runs at the end of the time limit you decide on. Answer Key is on page 4.
