Activity Based Learning with Task Cards really does work to help reinforce your lessons. Task and Station cards get your students engaged and keeps them motivated. Use all at once or as many as you like. Directions for using Task Cards included in this resource.
✓ Task Cards: There are 10 Task Cards. Students use Calculus to determine the largest interval for which a function is increasing or decreasing without using a Graphing Calculator. Some of the answers are obvious for those who know parent functions and transformations. Some are more difficult. There are no Trigonometric functions in this activity. There are two blank cards for you to customize.
I use this activity to reinforce my students’ skills without overwhelming them with difficult derivatives. I often find that if they can visualize some of the functions in their head, then they understand how Calculus verifies what they knew, and understand that they must use derivatives and algebra to solve for the more difficult examples to come.
