Limits of Trig Functions: Task Cards, Quizzes, Graphic Organizer
This lesson is designed for AP Calculus AB, BC, Calculus Honors, or College Calculus 1. This topic is covered in Unit One, Limits. Students are to find the limits of trigonometric functions, some of which use basic identities, and others use the “special Limits", sin x /x, 1 - cos x / x, and variations of them.
*Two sets of 16 Task cards,
one with QR and one without. Students do not need to be on the internet to get the answers with a QR reader. They do need a device with the QR reader app installed.
of questions which can be used for an alternate class or for an absentee.
*Two additional handouts
with ten questions each similar to the task cards. These can be used as Homework, assessments,or enrichment.
*All Answer keys
*Student response sheet
with room for work
for the “Three Special Limits” in the form of Avery 5160 Address labels (30 to a sheet) with the formulas printed on them. My students love when I give them these formula labels. So cool to print on neon labels if you can get them, but white is fine. Great addition to students’ notebooks. I also “sell” the labels for a quiz. If it appears someone or a few have not learned the formulas and are stuck, I will sell them the labels for some points. In this way, they can do the problems, but have learned next time to learn the formulas. If you don’t have labels, just print on colored paper, cut and paste.
