Description
This course is a compilation of my favorite techniques and tricks from over a decade of helping students prepare for calculus courses. The information included here can help students start their class feeling confident and ready to succeed! Students should have completed through pre-calculus or math 111 and 112 in order to have the foundations necessary.
These are interactive worksheets with space for notes, brainstorms, fill-in-the-blank note-taking, and matching.
This course is ideal for small summer camps, or for a tutor to use individually with a student. It is not intended to be worked alone by the student; an experienced instructor is required to help fill in information and teach concepts.
Concepts covered are:
• Pre-calculus review
• Limits
• Continuity
• Slope review
• Tangent lines
• Definition of the derivative
• Power rule for derivatives
• Application of the derivative/derivative in context
• Increasing/decreasing functions
• First derivative test and critical points
