This activity contains 10 differential equations which need to be solved to yield a particular solution. Each differential equation is solved using between 7-9 steps. Reasons for each step are also included. Cut the steps and reasons apart. Distribute one set of cards to 1-2 students. Ask
students to first arrange the steps in order to show how they would solve the differential equation. Then have
students either use the given reasons for their steps or
describe the steps in their own words. This type of activity can help students who are struggling with the algebraic steps in solving a differential equation.
The last page of the file is a blank chart that can be used to make other sorting exercises.
The exercises have been numbered and an answer key has been included.
