### Description

Similar to an Escape Room, this engaging fun project for Calculus students, uses techniques from the Volume of Revolution (part of the Applications to Integration Unit), to escape capture by Aliens.

Your students have been unwittingly captured by aliens from the planet Relssek, and in order to be set free and escape their captors, they must find the volume of the Queen’s favorite mug, no easy task. In order to solve the problem they will use their prior Algebra knowledge plus Calculus to determine its equation, its volume (disk method), not just in units, but in liters, and fluid ounces.

My students love this activity and it is great to see them work in teams. Lots of fun and great use of their math and calculator skills.

The resource includes the problem itself, a response sheet for the group, a graphing calculator handout, and 4:1 graph paper. I have also included a step by step illustrated detailed solution packet for you which can be shown to the students after their projects are turned in.

Use this while studying Volume of Revolution or use after the AP Exam as a great end of year project. Either way it will be a big hit, engaging and NO PREP FOR YOU. Just Print and Go!
