Daily Interactive Calendar Journal ~ September
I have used interactive calendar journals with my students for several years now. I love how each child has the opportunity to be actively engaged during calendar time rather than having one child participate in the instruction, while others are not always focused on what they should be. I have found it is the best way to ensure that all of my students are getting the most out of the lesson. It also provides me with daily assessments by monitoring work in individual binders.
Each of my students will work in their own journal as we complete the pages together. One of my students is assigned the calendar wall as their classroom job so this child will lead the instruction and I will assist or add as needed.
I have recently updated the journals to include our math vocabulary as well. It is a great way to introduce or review vocabulary from past, present or future instruction.
The September set includes:
*monthly cover page – 2 options
*daily calendar pages – 4 options (match weather graphs and with or without vocabulary)
*weather graph – 2 options (boy and girl)
*How many days have we been in school? (count by 10)
*vocabulary sheets included: add, addend, addition, addition property of equality, additive comparison, additive identity of zero, associative property of addition, commutative property of addition, digit, doubles, doubles minus 1, doubles plus 1, equal. Equal groups, equal sign, equation, equivalent, making ten, mental strategies, number, number line, number names, numeral, operation, order of operations, plus, prime number, quantity, solve, sum
I have also included step-by-step directions on how to set up interactive calendar journals for your classroom. I have provided several options for you to choose from. You can decide what works best for you and your students!
