This calendar has 365 usual, unusual, and quirky holidays to take the doldrums of out the everyday classroom routine.
Brain research tells us that brains need novelty.
Feel free to be creative and find ways to include the unusual days into the learning experiences in your classroom.
Here are some examples:
• Wednesday February 25th is Quiet Day. This is a great day to have extra Silent Reading time, or learn sign language!.
• Friday September 25rd is National Comic Book Day. This might be a great day to let the children bring in comic books for reading time!
• November 20th is Universal Children’s Day. Have the children write about the value of children in schools or in families.
