Included in this packet is a worksheet for students (pre-k, kindergarten, and kids with Autism) to complete on calendar topics such as day, month, and date. There is also a worksheet on identifying daily weather conditions, temperature, and season. Each worksheet comes in two different levels (simple and advanced) for learners of differing abilities. This way, you can cover the same topic with differentiated instruction.
In addition to these worksheets, large, interactive visuals are provided that can be hung on your classroom wall or bulletin board. For every question on the worksheets, there is a corresponding interactive visual that can be posted on the board. For example, on the weather worksheet, there is a question which says "the weather is…" followed by a blank or multiple choice pictures (depending on level of difficulty). For the large, interactive visual that can be posted on the board, there is a blow up of all the weather picture options. A student can come up to the board and identify the weather by velcroing a star to the correct picture.
In my class, we complete all the interactive visuals on the board together as a group every day during our morning circle. Then students complete their worksheets (which they keep in individualized binders) using the materials on the board as a model. We also use this time to ask social questions, engage in read-a-louds, write a journal, and discuss events happening on our classroom calendar!
