California Gold Rush.... Poster Activity bling, bling :-)
Let your students show what they've learned about their studies of The California Gold Rush by using this 8.5 x 11 poster. This poster will look great hanging outside your classroom, and parents will enjoy reading them when they are sent home.
I have marked this poster for grades 4-5, but it may be suitable for other grades. Please read the topics below to help you decide if it will work for you.
Grab your media specialist, check books out from the library to have in class, use your social studies book, watch videos, go to the computer lab, etc. Use whatever resources you would like to have students fill in the information.
NOTE: Don't forget to check my store for a HUGE variety of poster activities..... get one for all the holidays and other topics, too.
The California Gold Rush activity has plenty of places for students to add their own creative touches with color.
The sections for the students to fill out as a writing activity are:
*Place for their name
* define vocabulary: pioneer, migrate, prospector, entrepreneur, boomtown, miner (please be aware that the space to write a definition is limited, so they will need to define it in as few words as possible) There should be enough room, just giving you a head's up :-)
*first began in....
*when gold was found by....
*while he was working at....
*effects on California landscape
*effects on California economics
*Important people and their role in the Gold Rush
*# of people...
*Major routes taken
Use as a center activity, homework project, partner activity, etc. Use it in your classroom however you would like.
