This simulation game bundle was created in an effort to step away from having students simply read from a textbook to learn about the events and lifestyles of those living during the California Gold Rush era. In this game, students play as if they were a character from the time period. Some character biographies and events are based on true historical figures. The game also ties in math- multiplication, addition, and subtraction as students spend or earn money throughout the game. Students complete a KWL chart before beginning the game to activate prior knowledge and again at the end to demonstrate what they've learned throughout the lesson. I've also included a non-fiction article about the Gold Rush that can be used to provide students with background information about the time period.
