Here are some tools to help you set up a quiet area in your classroom to help young learners self-regulate their emotions and calm down when they feel frustrated or need a break.
2 Options Included: "Calm Down Spot" or "Cool Down Corner"
- Visual for rules on how to use the space
- "Take 5 deep breaths" visuals
- "Calm Down Kit" or "Cool Down Tools" sign
In your Calm Down Kit, you can include fidgets, a small stuffed animal, paper to color on, or other tools you feel would help your young learners calm down. I also hang up a poster of feelings and a small mirror so that students can identify how they are feeling.
