Calm down techniques and strategies for students with autism or other behavior management needs in speech and language therapy and special education!
If you have a student who would benefit from the use of calm down techniques in the special education classroom or speech and language therapy room- you’ll want to check this out. This calming strategies packet will be especially useful for the SLP or Special Education Teacher. The focus of this packet is “I CAN”. What CAN your student do when he/ she becomes frustrated? How CAN your student calm down? This packet will provide some strategies he/ she can implement after instruction.
Calm down techniques, such as listening to music, exercising, walking, relaxing in a designated chair/ area, counting, reading, and chewing gum, are mentioned.

Calming Strategies Flip Book: print out the flip book, cut off the paper where indicated, and staple in the top corners. Complete this flip book with your student as you discuss various methods that can be used when trying to calm down.
(7) Calming Strategies Social Stories: these are no prep, print & go social story worksheets which address a targeted calming strategy. Read the story with your student, then answer the question provided.
