This set of Calming Strategies activity worksheets help students who need a fun way of learning some old and new self-regulation techniques when things are feeling insurmountable for them. These worksheets support diverse needs students when they're struggling with challenges such as anxiety, ADHD, ASD etc. These worksheets give struggling students lots of calming techniques to try, some of which they may already know, but perhaps many new ones for them. Students can sit quietly somewhere to color-in the B&W format as a calming, self-regulation technique in itself.

Hot on the heels of our own daughter struggling with anxiety and PTSD in recent times, I came up with these worksheets to help her self-regulate and find her peace when it was needed. Used in conjunction with other calming techniques and resources also available to her at different times, it was such a success for her, and thus us as her family, Teachers and classmates.

It goes without saying that for this particular resource, I primarily designed it to assist her struggles and to make something beautiful and engaging to help other young children cope with their anxiety, worries and struggles too.

The strategies I've compiled for this resource helped her enormously. So much so, that her primary school Principal insisted on purchasing the set for use widely in her entire school, and also for a new primary school she relocated to some time later. That's when I knew this could help other kids too.

This set comes with a full-color worksheet in a USA letter size, as well as a matching version in black and white to be used as a calm down technique in itself, ie: something for children to sit quietly and just color in. They may not even realize how many new strategies they're learning as they go, they'll just be busy coloring and not realizing just how much they are absorbing at the same time.

These worksheets have each been set up with a "tick box" against each and every strategy. I've done this so that children can tick any strategies that they already use or that they know work for them, with the aim to increase the number of ticks as they learn more strategies that will hopefully work well for them.

When it comes to keeping anxiety in check, there's never too many strategies. Some will work, some won't - but it's one of those things that it can't hurt to give them all a go!

Please note that this set is primarily aimed at early learners as it uses lots of cutesy coloring-in pictures. It's best suited to Preschool, Kindergarten, First Grade through to Fourth Grade.
