Explicit teaching and practice of coping/calming strategies is so important for young children especially children with delays and special needs. In my speech room we pick one strategy to practice each session to calm our bodies before we begin our work. This allows my students to have a "tool box" full of positive coping strategies in to use whenever they need them.
This pack includes
-An interactive bulletin board with kid friendly posters of 13 different coping strategies using "I can" statements (administrators love these!). Choose a few to teach to begin with and then students can add to their "collection" until they know all 13
-Miniature key ring visuals, because you never know when a student will need a reminder of a coping strategy
-Interactive visuals/communication boards to facilitate making choices during moments of frustration
-Multiple black and white worksheets to reinforce reflection and pre-teaching of coping strategies.
