For many students, being able to get calm is difficult. Fortunately being able to regulate your emotions is a teachable skill. It takes direct instruction and lots of modeling and practice! This simple social story gives 6 concrete examples of what a young student can do to calm down. This piece works great laminated and given to a student to choose a tool when they need to get calm. I simply say, "I can see you are angry. Choose one of the tools to help you get calm". Students like the choose and the pictures. These skills take practice - first when they are calm - before using in the moment.
