Calming strategies help give students skills to cope with life's challenges and when things do not go their way in a positive way. The included strategies are rooted in grounding. Grounding strategies are calming strategies to help those facing strong uncomfortable emotions and feelings. Grounding helps one to become present in their body, to know where he/she is, what is happening in his/her surroundings and also help one regain a sense of safety and control. When one is “grounded,” he/she is in the present reality. This resource is perfect for all age groups- children to adults.
