In this lesson, students will use digital cameras to test out a variety of the cameras mode settings such as portrait and night settings. This lesson looks at how photographers look at a three-dimensional scene or object and have to figure out how to turn that into a two-dimensional image. We discuss a variety of ways that photographers add depth to images and to prevent them from looking flat. Foreground, middleground and background are introduced. Students use the attached lab handout to record their findings as well as answer questions regarding this topic.
