This camp unit truly makes the last week of the school year easy. My students are always on their best behavior and the activities allow time for us to enjoy our last week together.
I have 5 days of very detailed lesson plans to make the last week of school fun, enjoyable, and easy.
Why I do it- My students and I work hard all year and the last week of school we are all exhausted. Camp is a fun way to incorporate end of the year activities while enjoying each other’s company for the last week we have together. It is just a fun stress free enjoyable week. The kids are also so well behaved because they do not want to be “kicked out of camp” for even 5 minutes. It is truly a time where I can enjoy my students before they leave me.
How- I ask parents for help. I have parents send in tents. If you do not have parent support or parents who do not camp you can throw a blanket over a table and call it a tent. The Friday before camp starts I finish packing up my room up (mostly) and set up tents throughout my room. I assign or let the children choose (depending on the group of kids) a bunk. I also set up a campfire in the center of the room. I use rolled brown construction paper and orange and yellow tissue paper.
What- A must is reading in the tent with a flashlight. My students would do this all day if I let them.
* Shirts- I have parents send in a new shirt. White works the best. See attached for the iron on transfer and directions.
* Care Packages- These are so much fun! Parents send in a care package for their kids. It is a surprise and just a fun addition to camp!
* Everything you need is included!
*** If you have any questions about how I run camp please do not hesitate to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. In the subject line please put camp.
