Calling all campers and writing camp counselors!
Campfire Writing Carousel is a fun collaborative way to teach or review expository prompt writing. FANTASTIC FOR WRITING CAMPS! GREAT FOR STAAR PREP!
A writing carousel is a collaborative writing activity where groups of students work on the same piece of writing together but not at the same time. In other words, each student writes a piece of the composition then passes it on. This requires students to read and reflect on the writing already produced and then add on appropriately.
Campfire Writing Carousel is great test prep for the 4th grade writing STAAR without feeling like test prep or endless writing to prompts! Formatted and worded similarly to STAAR, students will have the opportunity to write a variety of expository prompts in a fun group setting. Students learn the importance of writing neatly (as their peers have to read it) and the importance of writing clearly (as their peers have to understand it). It also gives struggling writers an opportunity to see what their peers are writing and the opportunity to learn from each other.
There are 9 different prompts included in this bundle. Each prompt is structured for the student: introduction; description; reasons 1-3; and conclusion. Each prompt is followed by the STAAR expository check list for students to review and check their work.
