These 3 predictable, patterned books allow early language learners the opportunity to:
-- produce multiple repetitions of personal pronouns
-- identify and label action verbs
-- practice phonological awareness skill of syllabification
-- recognize and learn familiar, predictable text
pp. 2-9 Book 1 ‘Can She Do It?’
pp. 10-17 Book 2 ‘Can He Do It?’
pp. 18-25 Book 3 ‘Can They Do It?’
Print and laminate the first 6 pages on paper, and the last 2 pages on card stock for sturdiness.
Cut the first 6 pages in half on the line. DO NOT CUT the last page of the book in half. Cut out the round picture cards individually to use interactively with the book.
Assemble the half pages on top of the full page and bind on the top. Place hook velcro on the blank circles on text pages and on the individual round pics on the bottom of the whole sheet page with text. Place loop velcro on the back of the individually cut circles.
As the book is read, students remove the picture from the bottom and place them on the circle on the appropriate page to fill in the missing action word.
Students produce the sentence on the bottom of each page.
