This activity is great for St. Patrick's Day / March writing! Super for a focus on descriptive writing, details, word choice, and/or adjectives!
Students are given a leprechaun. Have students color and decorate their leprechauns. They can even add details in the background, such as pots of gold or rainbows. Next, students must describe their leprechauns in one of six writing prompts (you choose which works for your class). Lastly, as a concluding activity, hang the leprechauns and randomly read the description papers - see if students can match the descriptions to the leprechauns!
Included in this product are:
- 1 page description with detailed directions on how to conduct this lesson in your classroom
- 4 different blackline leprechauns (use one kind for the whole class or randomly give students one of each desired design)
- 6 writing papers (2 easy, 2 harder; 1 for each level that allows for paragraph writing and 1 for each level that allows for either 5 individual clue sentences or 5 phrases depending on what you need for your students, also included are 2 with dotted lines - one for longer writing and one for sentence descriptions)
- 1 bulletin board topper sign so you can easily display your students' work
My students love this project; I know yours will, too!
