This 45 minute lesson plan is designed to have very little preperation needed by the teacher. Most materials are self-created by the students in order to almost completely shift the learning onto the students as well as reduce amount of pre-lesson teacher preperation.
This lesson includes a wonderful scavenger hunt based activity that gets students up and moving in order to both learn new and review old vocabulary. This aspect of the activity is great for students with ADHD or simply a class with a lot of energy.
The lesson plan is set up to target holistic objectives by having students working in groups in order to build team work skills.
In addition, the scavenger hunt is designed to ensure students interact with the same vocabulary at least 3 times during the same lesson. When teaching a foreign language in particular, vocbaulary needs to be used continually and interacted with at high frequencies--this lesson plan helps students do that. Lastly, the scavenger hunt offers students a visual for each vocabulary, making this lesson extremely appealing for visual learners.
In the end, this is a highly effective, FUN lesson that will get students excited about learning a new language.
