Students develop number sense, flexible thinking and an understanding of the mathematical ideas of equivalence, operations and properties, etc..
Students use numbers from the bank to create the target number. Students may use as many numbers and as many operations as they need for each solution. Students may only use a number once in each solution. They may use it again in a second solution.
120 ÷ 60 = 2
120 ÷ (100-40) = 2
(80 + 40) ÷ 60 = 2
Routines are designed with the idea of a “Low Floor / High Ceiling” to allow access for all students. Target numbers in this edition are ‘quotients’ but students may use multiple operations to create the target number.
