Looking for something to talk about in your online ESL Conversational English Class? This lesson uses visual prompts to get students talking about Canada. Designed especially with online one-to-one lessons in mind.

I enjoy using this lesson for my ESL students who are interested in travelling or moving to Canada. It's a brief introduction to many different parts of the country, but it mostly focuses on getting them speaking. It works best with those at an A2-B2 level who want a little bit of structured in their conversation classes. There is a little bit of information on Canadian English and short quiz on Canada at the end.

Available as Google Slides, this lesson works great through either an interactive use of Google Slides, but it can also be downloaded to be used with screensharing through Microsoft PowerPoint. You receive a clean copy that can be used to save a new version for each student, a teacher's copy with speaker notes, and a document with tips and suggestions for using the lessons. Notes can be taken for the student in the speaker's section and either saved on google or sent as a .pptx at the end of class.

This lesson is designed to be 60 minutes, but it can be shortened/lengthened by using the speaker notes. The speaker notes contain additional questions for each slide to spark conversation, and can be added/omitted according to the needs of the lesson.

Please also note the terms of use found in the Google Drive folder.
